Approximately one million children are now being educated at home. Students who are homeschooled on the average have much higher scores on standardized achievement tests (25% above normal at the 75th percentile). According to a 1999 study by the ERIC Clearinghouse on Assessment and Evaluation, (Denver Post Online article August 29, 1999), the average eighthgrade homeschooled student performs four grade levels above the national average.
