In Canada, the Auditor General for the Ontario government found that it costs $84,000 per year to house an adult offender (Age 18+) and $124,000 per year to house a Young Offender (ages 12 to 17). ($1.00 U.S. = $1.50 Canadian). Total Justice costs for Canada = $10 billion per year.
